RGD Ontario provides professional advantage for its members as it works to:

• Provide a unified and credible voice for graphic designers when lobbying business, educational institutions and government with respect to issues affecting graphic designers.

• Provide members with the backing of a credible, legislated professional organization in the conduct of their business and advocate on behalf of the industry on issues such as spec work and the federal government’s policy of low-price compliancy.

• Heighten awareness of the profession and the value of graphic design as a strategic business tool through programs such as the annual juried competition Design at Work; the annual DesignThinkers conference with its program of design and business-related speakers; and the national survey of graphic design salaries and billing practices.

• Disseminate information about graphic design and management processes through virtual and in-person professional development and continuing education.

• Denote a quality signal to graphic design clients, helping them distinguish between graphic designers and persons with little or no training who purport to offer graphic design services.

• Promote professional dialogue and an exchange of information and ideas through communications, including mailings, newsletters and online media; publications; events both networking and educational, in person and virtual; mentorship and outreach.

• Assist to improve standards of education in graphic design through regular engagement with students and institutions as well as special programs for students including an annual awards program, career development and portfolio review events and ongoing communications.

• Foster liaison with other organizations and allied professions including business, marketers, writers, strategists, photographers, illustrators, printers and other design and communications professionals.
